Battery backup runtime estimator
Choose your system and pump to estimate how long it will run during a power outage.
10% is the standard benchmark pumps are engineered and rated around — typical for steady rainfall. Heavier or more constant inflow means a higher duty cycle and shorter runtime.
Estimated runtime

Why we assume this: during a storm, your sump pump doesn't run non-stop — it kicks on for a burst, then rests while the pit refills. Our estimate assumes it runs for about 30 seconds out of every 5 minutes, which is typical for steady rain. If your basement floods faster than that (heavier storm, more water coming in), your pump will run more often and your battery will run out sooner. If it's lighter rain, your backup will last longer than the estimate.
